Just in case you might be interested (NOT!) I am Tony, 56 going on 16, a Dentist by profession and live in Johannesburg in sunny South Africa. This is my story....

  • I was brought up in a 'Christian' household and have my mother's innocent faith to thank for where I am today.
    • Relatively speaking, I had a privileged upbringing, thanks to my father's labours.
I was schooled in Johannesburg, following which, I managed to put myself through University; paying my own way through waitering and odd jobs, until I eventually graduated from Wits University in 1982 with a Bsc(hons), and in 1985 with a BDS degree.
    • I have 2 great brothers: one is a Vascular Surgeon, living in Australia, and the younger, an Industrial Engineer who lives in Canada. Both have had significant influences on my life, for which I am extremely grateful.
    • During High School, my priorities were completely askew - girls, sport and having a good time being my exclusive agenda. I lived in a selfish little "cocoon" of suburban bliss, very much puffed up by who I was, completely oblivious to what was happening around me - both on an individual level and on a socio-economic/ political level. In fact, I can admit it openly - in those days, I was a REAL jerk! (and MANY will say,,, "you still are!!" LOL!)
    • When I started attending Varsity, my little bubble burst when I realized just how little I knew and how really insignificant I was in the grand scheme of things. I became exposed to the 'real world'. My conscience started to get the better of me, when I saw and began to understand what was happening around me. It scared me how efficient the Apartheid system was in brainwashing our entire society. I started to delve deeper and what I learnt is now a legacy of our South African history.
    • I was elected to the Wits SRC, where I learnt much of what was going on "behind the scenes" with regards the atrocities of the Apartheid regime. It was during this time that I became fundamentally opposed to the Nationalist Government and became an activist, a Comrade, a freedom fighter.
  • 8 years later, after graduating, I completed my 2 year stint of compulsory %#@$&! Military Service (coming very close to a Court-martial for being ANC aligned), during which time I served as a Medic in Angola, the Caprivi Strip, Rundu and Okavango ("the border"). This was probably the most depressing time of my life - being forced to defend principles that were totally abhorrent and seeing some of the atrocities that were being committed first hand. Speaking out against it landed me in serious trouble on several occasions, and I was fortunate not to be jailed at this time.
  • I then got married, set up in Private Practice and became seriously involved in Politics, campaigning actively for the African National Congress until after the Elections in 1994. Being involved with grass-roots activists and many of the heroes of the armed struggle, was a truly humbling experience. It was also around this time that Nelson Mandela chose me to be his dentist - meeting him was one of the more memorable moments of my life.
  • My outlook on politics at this time, was pretty naive. Unfortunately, I expected a lot more from "tried and trusted" comrades.
I was of the opinion that most leaders within the ANC hierarchy were beyond reproach and couldn't be bought, such were their principles and ethics. I have since learnt, that EVERY man's integrity has a price. Power corrupts and the love of money is the root of all evil. It disturbed me immensely to see some great "principled" men suddenly living in the laps of abject luxury and greed, with their new-found positions of power; while the masses were (and still are) poverty stricken. The nepotism I saw made me sick. I was appalled at the 'open' bribery and corruption. I saw tried and trusted comrades turn their backs on their principles, on their people and worst of all, on their own consciences.

Although the ANC has elevated the dignity of ordinary citizens by allowing them equal opportunity, their promises of "a better life for all" have been an outright sham. There have been for me, way too many disappointments. The FAILED, and I say that unequivocally and unreservedly, the FAILED concepts of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) and Affirmative action (AA) have made some once-principled men into obscenely rich moguls, and conveniently, the people who put them there are long forgotten.
Corruption of any form is detestable

    • Disillusioned, I quit my political interests soon after this. I now believe that the stronger the opposition, the stronger the democracy. The last thing I want for SA is another African tyrannical monarchy. Current events however, make this seem inevitable??? When 66% of the population are prepared and willing to vote for morally degenerate men as their leaders, I am filled with despair.
    • Disappointingly, (I have to admit that many people told me so - in this respect I have been proven entirely WRONG), the ANC is fast turning SA into a Heathen nation - with their Godless laws of:
      • abortion - the law passed by the "great" Nelson Mandela,
      • legitimized homosexuality,
      • legitimized pornography,
      • their totally immoral Sex education and HIV awareness programs,
      • a badly flawed Education curriculum,
      • the specific restriction of Christianity in public schools.
    • I've got news for the Government and for the people of South Africa - HIV/AIDS is a judgement of God and no amount of condom wearing or Public education is ever going to reverse the trend of it's devastation.
The only way to deal with the HIV/AIDS problem is to return to the morals and ethics of a God fearing society.

  • I enjoy computers - hence my attempt at this little website - and have been traversing the Internet since it was first available in South Africa - back in 1989 (at 2400 and 3600bps!!), when sending one ASCII text word per minute was considered a miracle!
  • I used to love Golf and reached 'scratch' level and played Inter-provincials before I gave it up: You can't be a Good father AND a Good Golfer!
  • I have always had a passion for the Ocean - to me, it's one of the most tangible pieces of evidence that there really IS a God. (That, and the absolute miracle of human physiology). I built a hugely successful Coral Reef Aquarium which eventually led to the inevitable - Scuba Diving! Since then, I have taken up the sport of Recreational angling quite seriously.

My dogged "faith" in the New South Africa cost me dearly. The Community Service that we provided in the lower-class areas of Berea and Hillbrow was a necessary, good and honest service. We enriched many people's lives with the Medical and Dental services we provided. However, the property which housed my Practice devalued by 70% in just 5 years through "Inner City decay". My staff members and patients were increasingly mugged, assaulted, stabbed and shot at. Violent crime stifled a once thriving Health Service, ultimately destroying my Practice investment and forcing me into bankruptcy. I had the misfortune of losing everything I owned by way of Insolvency.

1998/1999, at this stage of my life,  I was a seriously disillusioned, misguided and cynical individual; physically... and spiritually... bankrupt.

  • I lost everything I owned - my Practice, my house, my car and all my material possessions, all my worldly goods.

  • And, if this wasn't enough, the most distressing was still to come... Through my philosophy of 'making things happen', of 'being in control of my life', of being so misguided, I played a substantial part in the breakdown of my marriage. My best friend for 20 years (my wife) divorced me and I lost the absolute privilege of living with my children. Many, many nights I cried myself to sleep...

  • I was finally broken...

I really had nothing left to live for, having had everything I considered important taken away from me, broken apart and destroyed. My ego, my existence, all my worldly dreams and ambitions were completely and utterly shattered. To start all over again seemed like a dauntingly impossible and unimaginable task, and many better men than me, would probably have taken their lives. I even contemplated ending it all. But, and clichéd as it may sound, that's when Jesus found me. Winston Churchill once said: "We occasionally stumble upon the Truth and then hurry away as if nothing happened." That's what I had been doing all my life.... the Truth confronted me on so many occasions through the testimony of others, through their witness, but each time, I hurried off as if nothing had happened. My worldly pride kept me from finding that Truth, and God knew that only when I was truly humbled, truly broken, could I rid myself of the pride that separated me from Him and the Truth.

Many of us spend life trying to find out the reason we're put on this earth - studying philosophy, searching for "the answer", the meaning of life, for "Nirvana", for "Inner Peace" - the Truth of the matter however, is...

  • that the answer is there... all the time... and we don't even have an excuse! It stares us in the face - but we actually make a conscious CHOICE to reject it.

  • The Truth is, that we don't 'search' for God - He is there all the time, pleading for our commitment.

A Crutch?
I used to view Christianity as a 'crutch' for those who are too weak within themselves to cope with life. And how true is that! The Truth is that there is no-one on this earth who can save themselves... No not one! No amount of doing good can save you. No amount of being good and kind can get you into heaven. There is only one person who has the power to save.

To live life without Jesus Christ promises just one thing and one thing only - the second death - an empty, painful and eternal torment - in Hell.
To live a life dedicated to Christ, promises us "The Peace that surpasses all understanding", during this lifetime! - isn't that what we are ALL "searching" for? Inner Peace? A relationship with God? Commune with the Creator? Well that's what Jesus Christ offers!

Preconceived ideas
Many of the Christians I'd come across in the past were "nerds & geeks", "happy-clappy's" and "funny-people", difficult to identify myself with. Many others were 'holier-than-thou' hypocrites, arrogant in their misconception of what faith really is. In the world's eyes, I was a nice guy, a 'hip dude', a kind and loving person, generous and compassionate - all of which means DIDDLY-SQUAT in the eyes of a Holy God.

With these preconceived ideas, the difficult part for me was to humble myself and admit, that without Christ, I was NOTHING, a lost soul on it's way to an eternal hell; to take that small step of faith, of giving up that incessant human need to be in "control" of my life, and placing it's control in the hands of our Creator.

For my entire life, Christianity just didn't suit my chosen hedonist lifestyle. I was a pleasure freak, totally lost in my sin; but let's face it, pleasure without God is so completely bereft of fulfilment, so meaningless, temporary and empty! Sin separates us from a perfect and Holy God. Our only purpose on this Earth is to serve God, to love Him with all our heart and all our mind and all our soul; and to love our neighbours as we do ourselves. These are the 2 Great Commandments as preached by Jesus. Whew! this is a truly difficult thing to do - to "die to self" and to serve others completely unselfishly! So, instead of Christianity being a 'crutch', or even a religion, it's not. It's a way of life, and a really difficult one at that. What's so important to remember too, is that this life is but a breath, a vapour, compared to what awaits us in Eternity - our short time on earth will determine where we spend eternity! Many people don't realize that the closest they will ever come to heaven is here, on this earth... isn't that so sad?

A fundamental part of me coming to accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah, was to be able to prove scientifically and beyond reasonable doubt, that He was who He claimed to be.
Was the Bible just a set of fables and guidelines on how to live, or was it what it claims to be - the Living Word of God, written by humans but inspired by our Creator? I did much study on this and.... when I was finally convinced - click here - that the Bible is the most accurate, historical document EVER written, I started reading it from cover to cover, for the first time.

I was absolutely dumbstruck and amazed by the proof that the Bible itself provides as to it's authenticity. There is NO other book anywhere in existence that contains such accurate prophecies, in their hundreds, perhaps thousands, ALL of which have come true, or await their imminent fulfilment. Prophecies that stipulate times, places, names and events in detailed accuracy (unlike the vague Quatrains of Nostradamus et al). How could this possible? The only way is if they were inspired or written by God Himself. Proof: God Himself said that in order to prove that He was the only God, He would show the future to His prophets, who would then write them down for the people to see them come true - that way, the people could not ascribe their fulfilment to other "gods" - (Isaiah 42:8; Isaiah 46:10; 48:5). The historical fulfilment of the prophecies in the Bible was a gob-smackingly awesome revelation to me.

  • Fundamental to true Christian belief is that the Bible IS the WORD OF GOD, which is sufficient to even attain perfection, and to which NOTHING may be added nor taken away.

  • It's basic focus is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which provides a means of commune with God and has God's promise of our Salvation as it's crux. It says that:

    • you need to accept that man is fallen, that we are all sinners and fall short of the Glory of God - that there is NOTHING we can do to save ourselves, that we are all sinful enough to deserve the wrath of God, and therefore we desperately need a Saviour, someone to save us, especially from ourselves!

    • if you have faith in Jesus Christ, if you believe in Him, that He was the Son of God

    • that through God's love for us (His Creation), He sent Jesus to die on the Cross for our sins, then Jesus was resurrected to heaven, to sit at the right hand of God as our advocate and intercessor,

    • you will be forgiven if you make the choice to ask for forgiveness AND repent (turn away) from your sin,

    • if you become born again with a new Spirit, The Holy Spirit,

    • if you follow the Truth, the Living Word of God, the Bible, He will wash you clean with His blood and refine you with fire!,

    • then you may receive the free gift of Salvation by God's awesome Grace and Mercy, and enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

I took this option and although my walk has not been an easy one, I now daily experience the "peace that surpasses all understanding", knowing that come what may, my God will never leave me, nor forsake me. My principles and outlook on life have changed 180' (vertically! !) - I now have vision, I now have peace (THANK GOD!!) and I now have a future. Restoration is taking place in my life on a daily basis - I recently married a wonderful woman - Jennifer, who was instrumental in my quest for the Truth and has been an awesome blessing in my life. My 2 sons have been one of God's greatest gifts to me, an absolute blessing and have been protected better than I could have protected them myself, something that was totally out of my control.

Please don't be deceived by false preachers who will tell you: "believe in Jesus and He will sort out all your problems, heal your disease, he'll fix your marriage, make you rich, make you happy". This is NOT what the Bible says.

God is Sovereign, He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy, compassion on whom He will have compassion. Although we are forgiven of our sins, during this lifetime we still have to live with the consequences of them.

Although certain parts of the Old Testament can be tiresome reading, I ploughed on, through a truly fascinating history of the Jews. What struck me though, was that the God that I was reading about was far removed from the God that most Christians had  described to me, and from what I was 'indoctrinated' with as a youngster?!?!  The gentle Jesus, holding you in his arms, cuddling you bits...... a child's prayer comes immediately to mind - "Gentle Jesus, meek and mild...".    Certainly, this God of ours is FULL of love, forgiveness, grace and mercy, absolutely no doubt; but most Christians conveniently forget that He is also a jealous God, a just God and full of wrath if we disobey Him; He is THE ALMIGHTY - who will have mercy on whomsoever He chooses; and He will return soon to judge this world unto complete and utter destruction!

  • He destroyed city after city in the OT, wiping out men, women and children with fire because of their disobedience.

  • In Sodom and Gomorrah, He destroyed an entire civilization for their homosexual depravity!

  • In Noah's days, He wiped out the ENTIRE world, saving only the 8 people who still believed in Him. And the end of our world will be just like unto the days of Noah - and, as prophesied, few people will be prepared for it (Matt 24:37).

Herein is the balance that is missing in the church of today... People are too quick to forget that the closest Christians will come to Hell, is on this earth!

I soon came to understand what the Bible means when it says that the beginning of knowledge is the Fear of the Lord.

(ps: please don't get me wrong about homosexuality - I am not a bigot - I love homosexuals as much as I love anyone else. What I'm not allowed to do however, according to the Word of God, is to accept their sin, "to live and let live". You see, accepting their error and not pointing them to repentance is a sin of omission and all I'm doing is loving them straight to hell. That's NOT Biblical Love. Biblical Love IS: loving someone else enough to help them TOWARD THEIR SALVATION - after all, nothing else matters!!).

Anyway, so now I had a dilemma. I was attending a church at the time, which was preaching the 'nice bits', what people wanted to hear, where the fear of the Lord is a non-entity, where Biblical Truth is just glossed over and where the teachings of men and edicts of a church are more important than what the Bible says. I struggled with this for a few months until I came to the last book of the Bible, Revelation, which cleared up the misunderstanding of what I was experiencing. In Revelation Chapters 1-4, it is prophesied what the church was like through the ages and what it would be like in the 'last days' - the Church of Laodicea. Amazingly, it became clearly evident to me, that
this prophecy is playing out in front of our very eyes, where the church of today is lukewarm, neither hot nor cold; preaching the nice bits, what people WANT to hear, and not what they should be hearing - the whole Truth, not a compromised Gospel, the church of Laodicea (which means the people's voice) - a compromised church, a compromised Gospel, a lukewarm church, a comfortable "Christianity".

I believe that because God saw my heart for the Truth, He immediately led me to a fellowship of bible-believers (call it a church if you want) which preaches the Whole Truth, directly from the Bible, not the comfortable doctrines that men want to hear, nor the MIS-interpreted opinions of fallen men. (I believe sincerely that there are very FEW passages in the Bible that can be misinterpreted if studied using the original Hebraic/Greek frame of reference as to language and context.)

What absolutely amazes me is how many Christians believe that the Bible is the Word of God, yet
blatantly ignore much of what it says, claiming that it doesn't affect them since the New Testament brings them "under grace".

himself said that in the Last Days there will be DECEPTION and APOSTASY (many people will be deceived and will fall away from their faith);

  • Once saved, always saved.

  • REVIVAL of the Western church
Be careful of anyone who prophesies or claims Revival in the Western church of Laodicea. Scripturally, this can NEVER happen and is vain imagination, not from God. True revival is happening in the Far East and Central Asia, where people are being saved in their thousands out of Eastern Mysticism and occult spiritual experiences, NOT INTO IT, as is the case throughout the Western church!!
The Bible does teach that the Gospel will be preached to "the ends of the earth", but it DOES NOT SAY that everyone will accept it! Instead, it teaches that there will only be a faithful remnant that will be saved - just like the days of Noah, where 8 people were saved and an estimated 1 Billion were destroyed in the flood.

  • Kingdom Now, claiming the Victory and being King's Kid's.

  • Unity at the expense of Truth (ecumenism) such as the New Age/Catholic move towards ONE world religion. The God of the Bible is NOT the same God as any other religion. There is after all, ONLY ONE GOD.

  • Prosperity, Wealth and riches like so many Money preachers talk.

  • Positive Confession - the Word-Faith movement of "name-it, claim-it, frame-it".

  • A great NEW move of the Spirit, with special "Anointing", visits from angels with new revelation, "anointed" new prophecies.

  • New Apostles, Healing and miracle Crusades.

  • Spiritual Warfare, with believers having great power over the devil, enough to BIND him!
(If this were true, I'd like to know who keeps letting him loose!)

I also believe that we are living in the 'last days' as prophesied. There is so much evil in our world today, so much deception in the church, that the end cannot be far away. Just a few examples of what is happening today, which just 30-40 years ago would have been seriously questioned by even the secular world, not just the church...

  • Abortion and Euthanasia are now legal in many countries.
It's Ok for us to play God??
America, as an example, kills between 4000-8000 unborn babies every day! And the world wonders what they did to deserve September 11?? The USA purports to being the bastion of modern day "Christianity"! The very same thing is now happening in South Africa, where thousands of babies are killed weekly through abortions, where parents have no say whatsoever in the decision! Our Judgement sorely awaits us... Unfortunately, God is not easily mocked.

  • How far away are we from cloning a human?
Stem cell research is now at the stage where we are on the verge of cloning organs, what will be next? - Will God really allow us to usurp His Creation? This could be the ultimate blasphemy - A Spiritless human?

  • It's not only OK to be homosexual nowadays, but now it's OK to be a homosexual priest as is accepted practice in the Anglican Church (and shortly the Methodists will join them)?! ????
(For goodness sake, we ARE Sodom and Gomorrah!)

  • It's OK for Clergy/Pastors/preachers to have billion dollar bank accounts, own Lear Jets, drive Rolls Royce's, wear the finest clothing, drip in gold and jewellery and live in triple storey mansions??
It's easier for a Camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven! (Matt 19:24)

  • Pornography is now one's right to freedom of expression?!??

  • Moves are afoot worldwide to legalize prostitution, homosexual marriages and adoption of children.

  • The Catholic Church by calling itself "christian", is hopelessly deceived in it's traditions of men and it's idolatrous worship of Mary. Catholicism has thrown the Bible out of the window and has over time, fabricated it's own gospel. The 1 billion people that blindly follow this religion are in serious danger - this is probably Satan's greatest victory. Jesus said about those who believe in Him: "Come out of her My people"! Those who truly believe in Christ and who love His Word would leave this cult. The Vatican continues to pursue it's role as the Ecumenical leader of the prophesied One World Religion, ultimately fulfilling the prophecy of being the Woman who rides the beast in Revelation.

  • The world's heathen religions march on relentlessly to Armageddon.
The Truth is that in this lifetime, there WILL NEVER BE TRUE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Why? Because
God said so - He said He would make Jerusalem a cup of trembling, a burdensome stone to all those who burden themselves with it (Zech 2:2). Isn't that an amazing prophecy - playing out before our very eyes!

  • Even now, there are many antichrists and false prophets - see www.deceptioninthechurch.com

  • Ecumenism, the ONE world government (EURO; OAU; AU; ASEAN), the one world religion, as prophesied, is taking form before our very eyes.
It's OK for different religions to Pray/Worship together?! Do We all serve the same God?

  • The 'Mark of the Beast' (which could conceivably be a computer chip implant) is already under test programs throughout the world.

  • The events in the Middle East point ominously to the prophesied war of Gog and Magog; where the whole world will come against Israel. The UN has condemned Israel unanimously more than 400 times, NEVER ONCE censuring an Arabic state that came against Israel? 400 - NIL?? A one-sided match if their ever was one!

There is only one conclusion....  Look UP, for our redemption draws nigh!  Jesus is coming back soon!

The Bible warns us 35 times: "Do not be deceived!"
Why does it place so much importance on '
More than One Third of the New Testament deals specifically with correct Biblical Doctrine - Jesus' teachings. If our doctrine is not right, our conduct cannot possibly be... If we are being deceived now, we will certainly be deceived when the AntiChrist comes.  - for false prophets shall arise, possibly able to deceive EVEN THE ELECT with their lying signs and wonders!!
Mark 13:22

It is for this reason that I believe pastors should be earnestly preparing their flock with Biblical Truth to avoid deception, to prepare them for the Tribulation, for what Christians might have to face when THE AntiChrist comes, for MANY will not be able to stand firm in their faith during this time...
... if your doctrine is not correct now, then
YOU will be easily deceived .... God Himself promises this:  "because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11And for this cause God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth. (2 Thess 2:10)

If you are still searching for 'Inner Peace', for the answer to life, for freedom...
I urge you to stop running away from the Truth and consider Jesus Christ, who said -

No-one .... comes to the Father, but by.....  me.

THIS is what Jesus can do for you -

  • Luke 4: 18 Jesus, speaking in the Synagogue: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised."

  • Matt 11: 28 Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Amen and May God Bless you.

THE DAYS OF NOAH: Matt 24: 36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Matt 22: 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Acts 8: 35 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
